# Signing Up, Signing In & Password Recovery

> How to create a Voxworks account, sign in with a password, magic link or Google, and recover access if you forget your password.

## Overview

Voxworks supports three ways to create an account and sign in: a password, a one-time magic link sent by email, and Google sign-in. All three lead to the same account — which method you use is a personal preference, not a plan restriction.

This page covers the sign-up and sign-in screens themselves. For what happens immediately after your first sign-up (personal details, mobile verification, team setup, your first script), see the onboarding walkthrough.

## Creating an account

Go to the sign-up page to create a new account. The form is headed **"Create an account"** with three ways to continue:

| Method | What you do | What happens next |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Email & password** | Enter your email address, a password, and repeat it, then select **Sign up with Email** | Voxworks sends a confirmation email; click the link in it to verify your account |
| **Magic link** | Enter your email address and select **Send Email Link** | Voxworks emails you a one-time sign-in link — no password to set |
| **Google** | Select **Continue with Google** | You authenticate with your Google account and skip password setup entirely |

On some sign-ups, a Terms of Service and Privacy Policy checkbox appears on the sign-up form and must be ticked before you can continue.

If you already have an account, select **Already have an account?** at the bottom of the sign-up form to go to the sign-in page instead.

### Confirming your email

After signing up with a password, you'll see a confirmation banner asking you to check your inbox and click the verification link before you can sign in. If you signed up with the magic link or Google, no separate confirmation step is needed — the link or Google login itself verifies you.

## Signing in

The sign-in page is headed **"Log in to your account"**. Enter your email address and password, then select **Log in with Email** — or use the **Forgot Password?** link beneath the password field if you can't remember it. Below the password form, an **OR** divider separates the magic-link option and any enabled single sign-on providers (Google).

If your credentials don't match an account, Voxworks shows an inline error such as *"The credentials entered are invalid"*. If you haven't yet clicked the confirmation link from sign-up, you'll see *"Please confirm your email address before signing in"* instead.

If you don't have an account yet, select **Do not have an account yet?** to go to sign-up.

<Note>
Some accounts are configured to require an additional verification step after signing in, regardless of which method you use. See the Multi-Factor Authentication page for details.
</Note>

## Password requirements

When you set or change a password, Voxworks requires:

| Rule | Requirement |
| -------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| Minimum length | 8 characters |
| Maximum length | 99 characters |
| Confirmation | Repeat password must match exactly |

The form will not submit until both password fields match and meet the length requirement.

## Keeping your plan or invite when you sign up

If you arrive at sign-up from a marketing page with a plan already selected, or from a teammate's invitation link, Voxworks carries that context through the whole sign-up flow — including through email confirmation and Google sign-in, both of which briefly take you away from the Voxworks site:

* **Selected plan** — arriving at sign-up with a plan chosen is remembered and handed to onboarding once you confirm your account, so you land straight into checkout for that plan rather than picking again. See [Plans, Tiers & Feature Gates](/billing/plans) for what each plan includes.
* **Team invite** — arriving at sign-up via an invite link shows an alert ("You have been invited to join a team") and, once you finish creating your account, takes you straight to accepting that invitation rather than the ordinary onboarding flow. If you already have an account, the same invite link works from the sign-in page too — sign in as usual and you're taken to the invite. See [Inviting & Managing Members](/team/members) for the invite side of this flow.

If an invite link has expired or the invitation no longer exists, Voxworks tells you the invite could not be found and offers a link back to your account instead of failing silently.

## Resetting your password

Select **Forgot Password?** on the sign-in page, or go to the password reset page directly. Enter your email address and select **Reset Password**. If the address has an account, Voxworks shows a confirmation message and emails you a reset link; if it doesn't, Voxworks tells you the email address doesn't exist.

Opening the link takes you to a password-update screen (still headed **Reset Password**), where you enter a new password and repeat it, then select **Reset Password** to confirm. On success you'll see *"Your password has been successfully updated!"* and a link back to your account home. If the new password is the same as your current one, Voxworks rejects it and asks for a different password.

### Expired or already-used links

Reset and magic-sign-in links are single-use and time-limited. If you open one that has expired, Voxworks shows *"The email link has expired. Please try again."* along with a form to request a fresh link by email — enter your address again and Voxworks sends a new one.

If you open the link in a different browser than the one you requested it from, Voxworks shows a browser-mismatch message and asks you to retry the link in the original browser — this is a common cause of links appearing broken when they aren't.
