# Using the In-App Assistant

> Open the Voxworks assistant from any team page, ask in plain language, attach documents, and pick up earlier conversations.

The Voxworks assistant is built into the app for every team member. Ask it about your scripts, calls, campaigns and account in plain language, and it looks things up for you. To use an outside assistant such as Claude instead, see the [MCP Connector](/mcp/overview).

## Opening the assistant

Click the assistant icon at the right of the header on any team page (its tooltip reads **Assistant (⌘.)**), or press **⌘.** (**Ctrl+.** on Windows). The **Voxworks assistant** panel opens on the right of the page; drag its edge to make it wider or narrower. On a phone it opens full screen.

Press the shortcut again, or click **Close assistant**, to hide it. While it is still working on a reply, the icon animates and its tooltip reads **Assistant is working**.

## Asking a question

Type in **Ask the assistant…** and press **Enter**. A new conversation opens with *"Ask about your scripts, calls, campaigns, or account."* and a few suggested questions to start from. The suggestions change with the page you are on: on a call they include *"Explain why this call ended early"*, on a script *"Review this script for issues"*, and on a batch *"Explain why this batch is stalled"*.

The assistant knows which script, call or batch you have open, so *"this script"* or *"this call"* means the one on screen.

Replies take a few seconds while it looks things up. Click the stop button to end a reply early. Answers link to the calls they rely on and to the docs pages they quote.

## Attaching documents

Click **Attach files**, drag files onto the panel (*Drop files to attach*), or paste them. You can attach Word, PDF, PowerPoint, text, Markdown, CSV and JSON files, up to five per message. Long documents are read up to a limit, and the chip says **Long document · first part only** when only the first part was read.

Attach a call script and ask the assistant to build it, and it writes a new script that follows your document's steps and wording. Attach a questionnaire and it can build a survey. See [What the in-app assistant can do](/assistant/in-app-capabilities).

## Conversations

Your conversations are saved. Use **Conversation history** to search and reopen an earlier one, or delete it. **New conversation** starts fresh. Each conversation is yours and stays inside the team you were in.

Use **Good response** and **Poor response** under a reply to tell us how it did.

## From a call transcript

On a call's transcript, hover a message and click **Explain this moment** (the sparkles icon). The assistant opens with that moment, the step it came from and any system notes about it, and explains what happened. See [Call Details](/calls/call-details).
