Surveys is in beta and available to accounts enabled by the Voxworks team. The assistant can only work on surveys if your team has the Surveys module and your role has the survey permissions. See Permissions.

From questionnaire to survey

Attach your questionnaire to the conversation — a Word document, PDF or pasted text — and ask “Turn this questionnaire into a survey.” You can also describe a new survey in a few sentences instead. The assistant asks for anything the questionnaire doesn’t say, such as the interviewer’s first name, who the calls are on behalf of, and which voice to use. It doesn’t ask for anything the document already answers. It then builds the whole survey — every question, answer option, instruction and closing line — keeping your questionnaire’s wording. See Surveys for the parts a survey is made of. There are two ways it can do this, and it picks the one that suits. The in-app assistant uses the second.
  • The assistant writes it itself, checking the draft against the same rules the survey editor uses and fixing every problem before it creates anything.
  • Voxworks converts it in the background. The questionnaire (up to 60,000 characters) goes to Voxworks’ own converter, which drafts, checks and creates the survey. This takes one to four minutes, and the assistant follows it until it finishes.

What you get

The survey is created in your team as an editable draft, and a test compile starts straight away. The assistant follows the compile and tells you whether it succeeded or what failed. Its report covers what it built and any choices it made that the questionnaire didn’t spell out, such as the voice, names, or two options combined into one. The survey can’t place calls yet. Open it in the survey editor to check it, then publish it. See Validate, compile & publish.
Ask the assistant to build in a test team first. It builds in the team you approved it for.

Questions that don’t work by voice

Some question types can’t be asked by voice, such as multiple choice (pick several), email addresses, dates and grids. The assistant converts these into types that work over the phone and tells you what it changed. See Question types.

Checking existing surveys

The assistant can list your team’s surveys and read one back in full, with any problems that would stop it compiling. Changes to an existing survey are made in the survey editor.
