Overview
Voxworks has two separate deletion flows:- Deleting a team removes the team workspace and everything in it — scripts, call history, contacts and billing records. Only the team’s primary owner can do this.
- Deleting your personal account removes your sign-in, your profile, and every team you are the primary owner of.
Before You Delete
Deletion is immediate and irreversible, so work through this checklist first:- Export anything you want to keep. Most table pages (Call Log, Contacts, Custom Variables and others) include a CSV download in the toolbar. Once the team is deleted, its data cannot be recovered.
- Release your phone numbers. A team cannot be deleted while a phone number is still connected to it — the deletion fails with “Sorry, we couldn’t delete your team.” Speak to the Voxworks team to have your numbers released or transferred before deleting, and if you have forwarded an existing business number to Voxworks, unwind the forwarding at your carrier first so callers aren’t sent to a dead end.
- Spend or resolve your wallet balance. Any remaining wallet balance is removed along with the team — it is not refunded automatically. If you have a meaningful balance left, contact the Voxworks team before deleting. See Wallet & Top-Ups for how the balance works.
- Warn your team members. Members are not asked to approve the deletion and lose access the moment it completes.
Deleting a Team
Only the primary owner — the person who created the team, or the person ownership was later transferred to — can delete a team. Other members, including anyone else with the Owner role, do not see the delete option at all. See Roles & Permissions for how the primary owner differs from other owners and how ownership is transferred. To delete a team:- Open the team, then go to Settings in the sidebar. The General tab opens by default.
- Scroll to the Danger Zone card at the bottom of the page (“This section contains actions that are irreversible”).
- Click Delete Team. A dialog opens confirming which team you are about to delete: “You are about to delete the team
{your team name}. This action cannot be undone.” - Verify your identity. The dialog explains that a verification code will be sent to your email address — click Send Verification Code, then enter the 6-digit code from the email and click Verify Code. If the code doesn’t arrive or has expired, use Request New Code.
- Read the final disclaimer, then click Delete Team to confirm.
Leaving a Team Instead
If you are not the primary owner, the Danger Zone card shows Leave Team instead of Delete Team. Leaving removes only your membership — the team and its data continue for everyone else:- Go to Settings > General and scroll to the Danger Zone card.
- Click Leave Team.
- Type LEAVE in the confirmation field and click Leave Team.
Deleting Your Personal Account
Deleting your personal account is broader than deleting one team:- Your sign-in and profile are permanently removed and you are signed out immediately.
- Every team you are the primary owner of is deleted with it, including all of those teams’ data.
- Any active subscriptions are cancelled immediately.
- Teams where you are an ordinary member simply lose you as a member.
- Click your profile picture in the sidebar and choose Personal Settings.
- Select the Delete tab in the left-hand menu.
- In the Danger Zone card, click Delete your Account.
- Verify your identity with the emailed 6-digit code — Send Verification Code, enter the code, then Verify Code.
- Read the final warning (“This will delete your account and the accounts you own…”) and click Delete your Account to confirm.
What Happens to Your Data
When a team is deleted — directly, or because its primary owner deleted their personal account — the following are permanently removed:
Some teams cannot be deleted straight away: the deletion is stopped — with “Sorry, we couldn’t delete your team.” — while certain records remain, including connected phone numbers and, in some cases, a team’s SMS and email history. If the deletion keeps failing after your numbers are released, speak to the Voxworks team and they will complete it for you.
There is no grace period or recovery window. If you are unsure, export your data first.
About the Email Verification Code
Both deletion flows use the same verification step:- The code is always sent to the email address of the account you are signed in with — you cannot direct it elsewhere. The dialog explains: “We must verify your identity to continue with this action.”
- It is a 6-digit code, entered in the dialog’s code boxes, and it can be used once.
- Codes expire after one hour.
- Codes are single-purpose: a code requested for deleting one team cannot be used to delete a different team or your personal account.
- If a code expires or never arrives, click Request New Code to start again. Requesting a new code cancels any earlier unused code for the same action.
If You Don’t See a Delete Option
Self-service deletion is switched on per deployment, separately for teams and for personal accounts. Depending on your workspace’s configuration:- The Delete tab may be missing entirely from Personal Settings — the left-hand menu then shows only Details, Password and Multi-Factor.
- The primary owner may see no delete action in the team’s Danger Zone card at all. Other members still see Leave Team as normal.
