What Are Personal and Team Accounts?

Every Voxworks sign-in has exactly one personal account — it’s created automatically the moment you sign up, and it holds your identity: your name, profile picture, password and Multi-Factor Authentication settings. It isn’t a workspace. You don’t build call scripts, take calls or manage contacts from it. The actual work happens inside a team — a separate workspace with its own scripts, contacts, phone numbers, billing and members. You can belong to any number of teams: your own, and any you’ve been invited to join. Everything you do day-to-day in Voxworks happens inside whichever team you currently have open.

Every Feature Lives Inside a Team

Call scripts, the Call Log, contacts, phone numbers, custom variables, voices, integrations, automations and billing are all team-scoped — each team has its own copies, completely separate from any other team you belong to. Nothing is shared between teams: a contact or call script created in one team is invisible from another, even if you’re the owner of both. Your personal account, by contrast, has only two things attached to it:
  • Home — your personal landing page, described below.
  • Personal Settings — reached via Profile in the Home nav; your profile, password and MFA, described in Personal Settings vs Team Settings.
If you haven’t yet created or joined a team, there’s nowhere else to go — you’ll see the empty Teams grid until you create one. Skipping team setup during onboarding works the same way: because scripts and phone numbers both live inside a team workspace, skipping also bypasses those two steps and takes you straight to Billing — you can still create a team later from inside the app. See Onboarding Walkthrough for the full first-run flow.

Your Home Page: the Teams Grid

Go to Home (from the profile menu, described below) and, if you belong to at least one team, you land on a page headed “Select a team” with a Teams grid: one card per team you belong to, each showing the team’s logo (or its initial, if it has none) and name. Click any card to open that team’s workspace. A New Team button sits above the grid, top-right, for creating another team — see Creating Additional Teams below. If you don’t belong to any teams yet, the grid is replaced with an empty state — “You don’t have any teams yet.” / “Create a team to get started.” — with a button to create your first one. If you also haven’t finished onboarding, Voxworks sends you to the welcome wizard instead of this page; see Onboarding Walkthrough.

Switching Between Teams

Once you’re inside a team, the account switcher sits at the top of the left sidebar, above the rest of the navigation. It shows the Voxworks logo and the name of the team you currently have open. Click it to open a dropdown with:
  • Home — jumps straight back to your personal Teams grid.
  • Teams — every team you belong to, with a checkmark next to the one you’re currently in. Click any other team to switch to it immediately; you land on that team’s Dashboard.
  • Create team — opens the same team-creation dialog as the New Team button on the Teams grid (only shown if team creation is enabled for your workspace).
You can also get back to your personal account from inside any team without using the switcher: click your profile picture at the bottom of the sidebar to open your profile menu, which includes Home (back to the Teams grid) and Personal Settings (your profile, wherever you currently are) alongside Sign out.

Personal Settings vs Team Settings

Your profile — name, picture, password and Multi-Factor Authentication — is one thing, shared across every team you belong to. Each team’s settings, by contrast, belong only to that team and have no effect on your other teams or on your personal profile. A useful way to remember the split: if it’s about who you are (your name, your login, how you prove it’s you), it’s personal. If it’s about how a team runs (its name and logo, who’s on it, what it’s billed for), it belongs to that one team.

Creating Additional Teams (Multi-Team Patterns)

Open the Create Team dialog from the New Team button on the Teams grid, or Create team in the account switcher. It asks for: Click Create Team to submit (the button reads Creating Team… while it processes). You’re taken straight into the new team’s Dashboard, ready to invite members and set up a call script. A few things to know if you run more than one team:
  • The free trial is once per person, not once per team. Your very first team gets the 14-day free trial with 100 free minutes. Any team you create after that starts on Pay As You Go instead — see Free Trial for how the trial works.
  • Each team is billed and staffed independently. Separate wallet balance, separate subscription, separate members and separate API keys — nothing is pooled or shared across teams you own.
  • There’s no limit on how many teams you can belong to. You can be a member of teams you didn’t create, at the same time as owning your own — the switcher lists all of them together.
