What is the Logic tab?
Logic is the second tab in Setup mode of the survey workspace. It shows the path a respondent takes through the survey and every routing rule that changes it. The left side is a routing canvas; the right side is a panel that changes with what you select. Without any rules, respondents move straight down the survey: every question in outline order, top to bottom. Rules let you skip ahead, show or hide questions, change which options are offered, store values, and end the interview early. Writing rules is covered in Routing rules.The canvas
The canvas draws the survey from top to bottom:
Clicking a fixed section on the canvas opens its form in the panel, with ← All rules to go back. Rules are drawn as connectors between nodes. A shuffled question previews one sample order; each real call gets its own.
Drawing a rule
The panel explains: “Drag from the blue dot on a question to a later question or an outcome to add a rule, or click a rule on the canvas to change it. Without a matching rule, respondents continue to the next question.” Dragging from a question to a later question starts a jump rule; dragging to an outcome starts an ending. The rule editor opens in the panel with the source and target filled in, ready for you to set the condition. Click an existing connector to open that rule.The panel with nothing selected
Routing rules
The heading shows the count — “(n) rules”, and ”· (n) not run on voice” when some rules came in with an import that voice calls cannot run. Click Add rule to open the rule editor. With no rules the panel reads “No routing rules yet. Every respondent moves straight down the list.” Rules that are not run on voice are tagged Not run. They usually come from an imported survey; they are kept for reference, and a rule marked as containing unsupported routing logic blocks publishing (see Readiness).Outside the flow
“These fire on events with no fixed position in the presented order, so they are listed rather than drawn.” Rules with imported triggers that voice has no place for — such as a resumed survey or an external event — appear here as a list rather than as connectors. The Variables card holds the survey’s own variables: “A value the interview carries rather than one question — set it from a rule with “Set variable”, and speak it in a later prompt with{{survey.var.<key>}}.” Click Add variable to add one. A variable no rule writes is tagged no rule sets it.

The panel with a question selected
Click a question node to focus on it. The panel shows:- Rule from here — start a new rule anchored on this question.
- Edit question (or View question on a read-only version) — jump to the question on the Questions tab.
- Leaves from here — rules that run after this question. Empty: “No rule fires after this question. Respondents continue to the next one.”
- Arrives here — rules that jump to or show this question. Empty: “Only reached in order from the previous step.”
