Opening a survey

Click any row on the Surveys list to open its workspace. Everything about the survey — authoring, checking, compiling, publishing and reading results — happens here. The breadcrumb reads Surveys › (survey name).

The header

The title row shows the survey name, plus:
  • A live job badge while a background job runs for this survey — Queued…, Compiling… or Publishing….
  • 🔒 Imported on a survey that came in through an import.
  • On the right, the version chip and the Setup | Results switch.

The version chip

The chip shows the version you’re looking at, such as v3, with a status pill: Open the chip to switch versions. The Versions menu lists the five most recent, then See n more / See less, and a Version history link. See Versions and drafts.

The switch on the right flips the workspace between two modes, each with its own tabs:

Validate and Publish are disabled while any job for the survey is running.

When can you edit?

The workspace is editable only when all three of these are true:
  1. You have the surveys.edit permission.
  2. The version you’re looking at is a draft.
  3. The survey was authored in Voxworks or is a Voxworks copy — not an import.
Anything else opens read-only: fields show their stored values rather than inputs, and read-only questions say “This version is read-only. Create a Voxworks copy to edit it.” To change a published version, open Version history and use Create draft on it. That copies the version into a new draft (v + 1) you can edit. A survey has at most one working version at a time. See Versions and drafts.
